Be a good egg this Easter and recycle more
With a chocolate extravaganza as millions of Easter eggs are being bought across the country and many people clearing-out sheds and lofts, Easter is the perfect time to visit the Household Waste Recycling Sites to make sure all those cardboard boxes, unwanted clothes and redundant electricals get recycled.
From Thursday 1st April, Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS), managed by Viridor on behalf of West Sussex County Council, will stay open for longer as they switch to summer opening hours. From April through to end of September the sites are open 8am – 7pm Monday to Friday and 9am – 7pm on weekends and Bank Holidays.
Viridor’s national recycling manager, Bill Griffiths, commented “Many people do not realise that an array of materials can be recycled at their local Household Waste Recycling Sites, from grass cuttings and timber to plasterboard, scrap metal and electronic items. All of these materials are sent for specialist treatment and recycled into new products.
“So if you’re planning a clear out or tackle a DIY project why not take advantage of the longer opening hours at your local HWRS and go green”.
Please note: Midhurst HWRS will open at 8.30am and close at 5pm. The site will remain closed on Sundays and Bank Holidays. East Grinstead also closes at 5pm.
