Mobile Services in the Horsham District

The mobile service covers the following areas:

  • Henfield
  • Pulborough
  • Steyning
  • Storrington

The Horsham mobile service will ONLY accept general household waste - please see below for information about this service (more commonly known as the "Gobbler").

New WEEE Recycling service in the Horsham District - trial extended!

The mobile Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) events trial will continue throughout 2013 in the Chanctonbury area. Bring along your old, broken or unwanted electrical items, household batteries and low energy lightbulbs for recycling. 

These events will continue in the four parishes of Henfield, Pulborough, Steyning and Storrington on a rolling basis until December 2013.

The scheme is being run by West Sussex County Council in partnership with Viridor and support from Horsham District Council in order to further encourage recycling of small WEEE items and to provide a more localised service in rural communities.

The WEEE service will be able to accept large electrical appliances such as washing machines and cookers; fridges and freezers; display equipment such as TVs; laptops and personal computers; fluorescent tubes and small electrical appliances such as hairdryers and batteries.

For any items that can’t be accepted, the nearest household waste recycling sites are at Hopoast, Worthing Road, Horsham RH13 0AR or at Brighton Road, Shoreham BN43 6RJ.  

Alternatively you can contact Horsham District Council, which offers a chargeable bulky household collection service.

•        Henfield: High Street Car Park, Sunday 29th September
•        Pulborough:  Lower Street Car Park, Saturday 19th October
•        Steyning: Church Street Car Park, Sunday 17th November
•        Storrington: Library Car Park, Saturday 28th December 

Events will be held between 10am and 3pm

Horsham Mobile Waste Service - The "Gobbler" - 2013/14 dates

The Horsham Mobile Waste Service will ONLY accept general household waste.

The "Gobbler" service will operate on the following dates:

Steyning - 8th June 2013, 14th September 2013, 7th December 2013 and 8th March 2014 (Saturdays)

Henfield - 9th June 2013, 15th September 2013, 8th December 2013 and 9th March 2014 (Sundays)

Pulborough - 15th June 2013, 21st September 2013, 14th December 2013 and 15th March 2014 (Saturdays)

Storrington - 16th June 2013, 22nd September 2013, 15th December 2013 and 16th March 2014 (Sundays)

Please note:

  • Hazardous waste (including fridges and freezers) or rubble cannot be accepted
  • This service is run for the convenience of householders. Waste arising from trade or businesses will not be accepted
  • It is an offence to deposit rubbish at the sites other than in the vehicle on the appointed day during operating hours
