The UK produces about 915,000 tonnes of Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment (WEEE) each year from domestic and commercial sources.

Electrical and electronic equipment normally contains substances which are hazardous and disposal of such items as waste, for landfill or incineration, should be minimised.

All the permanent Household Waste Recycling Sites have dedicated containers for all major types of elctrical and electronic equipment.  Click to locate your nearest site.

The WEEE Directive came into effect on July 1 2007 to help tackle this waste stream. The Directive sets targets for the collection and recycling of WEEE, placing the financial responsibility for treatment and recycling on producers.
