Gas bottles are split into two categories:
1) LPG - LPG is the generic name for commercial propane and commercial butane. These are hydrocarbon products produced by the oil and gas industries. These would be used for such things as fuel for heaters, gas campfires etc.
2) Non-LPG - These are bottles such as fire extinguishers, diving air tanks, helium gas, kegs etc. - anything that is not LPG.
How do I dispose of them? Do NOT place them in with your usual domestic waste as these types of containers need handling correctly.
Household Waste Recycling Sites accept all types of LPG and Non-LPG bottles (domestic waste only). Click here to locate your nearest site.
Alternatively, you can return it to the place where you purchased the bottle. If you do not know where that was, there will be a name of the type of gas on the bottle and you can return it to a local dealer of that gas e.g. Calor.
