All the permanent Household Waste Recycling Sites (HWRS) accept scrap metal items from householders for recycling.

Scrap metal bins are provided on site for domestic items such as bicycles, metal furniture, household utensils and other similar items. There are also containers for metal drink and food cans at most sites.
There are many different types of metal; the most common are Aluminium and Steel.
Aluminium
Recycling aluminium uses only 5% of the energy that is used to make it from raw materials and produces only 5% of the CO2 emissions.Steel
Recycling steel reduces water use by about 40%, whilst energy is reduced by nearly three quarters. In addition, air emissions are reduced by 86% and water pollution by 76%.
FACT: Metals can be recycled indefinitely without losing any of their properties.
