In the UK most people will replace their mobile phone every 18 months.

Re-use: Consider giving your old phone to a friend or relative. The charger and other accessories may also work with your new phone or could be donated to a friend.

Recycle: The rechargable battery and the LCD display in mobile phones are known to contain toxic components, and therefore require proper disposal.

The batteries can be placed into the dedicated battery recycling container and the actual handset can be placed into the Small Appliances skip/container at all permanent Household Waste Recycling Sites in West Sussex. Click here to locate your nearest site.

Nearly all mobile phone retail outlets will take back your unwanted phones or accessories. Mobile phones can also provide revenue for certain charities. Check your local charity shop or nearest electrical or mobile phone retailer for recycling facilities.
