The best place to take shredded paper for recycling is your local Household Waste Recycling Site (HWRS) and put it in the mixed paper and card containers.

Shredded paper should not be placed in your kerbside recycling bins. This is because the materials from your recycling bins are taken to a Materials Recycling Facility (MRF) for sorting. Strips of paper are too small and light to be picked up by the sorting equipment, can often get caught up in the conveyor belts and are therefore 'lost' from the system.
What else can I do with shredded paper?
It can be used as protective packaging in boxes, if moving house or storing fragile items.
It can be used as animal bedding, but first check it is suitable for your pet.
It can be composted along with kitchen peelings or garden waste at home in a compost heap or compost bin. You can avoid the paper being blown around by mixing it with wet materials or making it damp.
